Nervous Systems is a design studio creating jewelry, puzzles, and housewares using biological growth algorithms and mathematical modeling. Their expertise in organic 3D fabrication was recruited by bioengineers at Rice University to help design printable living tissue structures for organ transplants, a collaboration that revealed how skills parallel to academia, robustness, interactivity, the ability to make things that work in the real world, are both different from and essential to cutting-edge research.
